Posted before but here we go again....

Hey guys,

I'm looking for suggestions about getting a new computer as I have had my current one for around 5 years (parts have been upgraded since then) and it has already had several near death experiences.

It would predominantly be used for gaming but it would also be used for college work which means it would need to be able to run office programs, Photoshop and Dreamweaver effectively.

I am looking to spend in the region of £500, but would be interested in increasing this budget if I need too. This budget is purely based on the computer hardware and a case, I have a separate budget which would be spent on things such as new monitor, as mouse and a keyboard.

Thanks!

Sager custom built are pretty good. They normally show if a big thing (like a new processor) will come out on there next model. But most of the time you can get there best one right then cause normally there isnt anything big coming out.

I have had only experience with laptops and since your doing college work then it might be good. My brother has one and it is an amazing gaming laptop. I'm not sure what the model is called but im sure you can find it on their website.

It was priced 1,300$ and an equal laptop from Alienware was 2,100$. From apple it would be 2,600$ without a graphics card (and the graphics card is amazing).

So go look at Sager's website and see what you find.
Ya

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at the options avaliable to me once I get home from college. My computer is dead at the moment though - lucky I bought a Nexus 7 about two weeks ago? XD

@Redead - Seems more than I want to pay, and I would rather a computer than a laptop

@Jaythrope - You were helpful last time, and I'm sorry for making you repeat yourself :c

I'm considering getting a new one, or maybe putting the operating system on to a seperate drive? If I get a new harddrive then I would happily increase the budget a little. I believe that might be the cause of my computer problems at the moment.

A friend of mine was looking at computer parts before coming accross http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-253-OE - what do you think?

its OK if you don't want the hassle of installing the components but the computer its self is worth about £390

These are better and lower price
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMD78-FX-4170-4-2Ghz-Gaming-Pc-Computer-2Tb-8Gb-Ddr3-ATI-HD-7850-2GB-Vantage-/110962339468?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item19d5deee8c

or

With this i would sell the graphic card what comes with it for about £20
And replace with
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-049-HS&campaign=pcm/googleshopping&pup_c=gs

Goes over budget a but would be able to play any game throw at it

Not sure where the obsession with AMD Bulldozer CPUs is coming from, but I'd rather get a decent i5.
