Title: A quick question.
Post by: レオ✪ on July 04, 2012, 11:38:13 PM
I'm quite curious if there will be an update to the servers along with the moderator's being added.

NonSENSE will probably keep it a surprise. :P

No, I have nothing planned so far. Mainly because I don't have any good ideas and no time to implement them. If you can come up with an original idea and maybe create some hats that fit the theme, I can work on it. Right now I do not have the time to think of anything by myself.

Im sorry but I just cant sit back and watch you guys keep pushing nonsense for updates! Sure, I love updates too but you have to give the man a break. I mean the last update was released what, a little more than a week ago?

I guess we could have some type of update to introduce the new moderators in the game. I think it shouldn't really be about the content but more the occasion.

Staff Only Items
Unless someone has another idea, what about some kind of Moderator item? I remember during the last promotion a 'small gift' was mentioned but nothing was given. Perhaps this for Moderators:

Moderator
(http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/thumb/4/40/Painted_Wiki_Cap_729E42.png/85px-Painted_Wiki_Cap_729E42.png)
Description: A Unique Moderator's Cap (in green if possible)

Admin
(http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/thumb/8/88/RED_Wiki_Cap.png/95px-RED_Wiki_Cap.png)
Description: A Well Earned Admin's Cap (in red if possible)

Developer
(http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/thumb/c/c5/Painted_Wiki_Cap_256D8D.png/85px-Painted_Wiki_Cap_256D8D.png)
Description: The Creative Developer's Cap (in blue if possible)

Owner
(http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/thumb/e/e9/Painted_Wiki_Cap_E7B53B.png/85px-Painted_Wiki_Cap_E7B53B.png)
Description: The Grand Glorius Owner's Cap (in yellow if possible)

It would need to be non-tradable, can't be made rare, and only active on someones account for the time they are Moderator/Admin. It wouldn't carry any bonuses and would be purely cosmetic.

Donator Only Items
If we are having Moderator items, we might as well get some donator items for all donators, or a certain level of donator.

Silver Donator

Gold Donator

Diamond Donator

Moderator Points
Perhaps we could have some kind of Moderator point system which allows them to buy certain COSMETIC items in the shop. Points would be gained based on activities and recommendations by players. The recommendations would be viewable on the website, and all recommendations given must have some kind of explanation with it (to stop people getting it for no reason).

I worked out a possible effect list for each Rank cap , and attempting matching up effects.

No. Seriously, an event is not supposed to be for 1 specific usergroup only who was lucky enough to get chosen by 2 or 3 people. While there are items for contributing to the community (medal of excellence, mappers medal and community items), there won't be items for moderators / admins / owners.

There won't be any donators-only items either.

When I said "come up with an original idea" I didn't mean you should center it around the fact that new moderators are being chosen. To be honest, it is quite sad that new moderators actually have to chosen after this little time...

Let's try this again: Try to come up with an idea that could be a great addition to the server, and maybe design some hats that fit the theme.

When I posted my ideas, I was posting it more as an update to accompany the new Moderators. To indicate new Moderators as a celebration rather than a time to become depressed. If you want to run an event then there was a Smash tournament which never happened.

I shall post another idea soon :D

Maybe you can do that dodge ball tournament you mentioned a while back so everyone can have a chance to be happy including the new moderators :D.  And there can be a 1st,2nd,and 3rd prize.

1st place: 3mil+legendary Camera beard

2nd place: 2mil+legendary Camera beard

3rd place: 1mil+legendary Camera beard

If you like it, maybe people can pitch in ideas instead of legendary camera beards or something :). (This is just an idea)

Not to be rude.. but camera beard's are heavily disliked.

Dodgeball Tournament
8 teams each with 4 people. (32 people, can we do that?)
The teams would be chosen by players. This means there would have to be pre-match community involvement, else people would be without a team and therefore unable to play. This would also make blasters have more demand which would better the server economy. As well as that, it would make people more aware of the DB server.

I would like to have knockout stages, this would help provide a better game.

First Stage:
Team 1 v Team 2
Team 2 Wins

Team 3 v Team 4
Team 3 Wins

Team 5 v Team 6
Team 5 Wins

Team 7 v Team 8
Team 8 Wins

Second Stage:
Team 2 v Team 3
Team 3 wins

Team 5 v Team 8
Team 8 wins

Third Stage:
Team 3 v Team 8
Team 8 wins

Team 8 would then be awarded a hat such as a Football helmet
(http://tf2wiki.net/w/images/thumb/4/42/RED_Football_helmet.png/95px-RED_Football_helmet.png) or (http://tf2wiki.net/w/images/thumb/d/d8/BLU_Football_helmet.png/95px-BLU_Football_helmet.png)

The football helmet would be used to indicate that it is a team game, since football is also a team game. The colour of the helmet would depend on the colour of the winner team in the third stage. it would be not tradable, and if seen suitable, an effect. It would have legendary properties and the description would mention how it was obtained.

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but I have said numerous times that DB is not ready for a tournament. It is unbalanced and overall not complete.

(1)Playtime.
Alot of big companys besides adding premium items or such(Rare crates, Goldbars, ect..) is add a gambling type feature. Lets take runescape for example they have added a feature that allowed players to spin a wheel to get loot, gold, ect.. could be bought with real money but could also be used to spin the wheel is playtime. What the community lacks is players that constantly play and that would solve it, a wheel or such could be spun with "Tickets" to spin the wheel depending on how long you have played that day.

(2)Crate of the day(week).
Possibly add a crate of the day or week and that same crate in-game would have a higher chance of a good item or an item that is listed for the crate of the day.

I've run out of idea's, But all I can say is, Why not do some big event (Summer Event for example)and add like 15 items or something, Maybe some new legendary's and such, Maybe even a new item type.

Yes. Summer event. Very vague. Why do you have a summer event?

What item type?

I don't need you to come with questions that I should answer. I need you to come up with the answers as well. Otherwise this is absolutely pointless.

What about separating body attachments and badges?
The mapper's medal and medal of excellence would go in this new category and would be wearable along with body attachments.
Smash, slope, and dodgeball themed badges could be given away to people who achieve all achievements in their respective categories. (Maybe in the future?)
All badges would be awarded. They would have no effect other than showing off your accomplishments and wouldn't have attributes.

Well, I'll work out a possible summer event setup tonight, And probably work out a pile of items(Hats and Such) for it too.
