Hello, I used to play on the server quite a lot in the summer time; School and life caught up with me and a took a break from gmod and the "Smash" server, which is by far my favorite server.

Well fast forward to now and I am getting a message that I am "Permanently Banned". This ban may have happened a while ago because I can't find my name in the ban-list. I'm quite distressed that I won't be able on one of my favorite servers now that I see so many people have joined.

When I played I was always sure to be respectful to other players, I didn't use any profane language or sprays; otherwise, I'm completely unsure why I have recieved a permanent ban.

Is there any possible way for me to lift this ban, or if I am guilty of any kind of infraction, is there any way I can make it up?

Anyone's advice is greatly appreciated.

You were banned for speedhacking on the Slope server.

What, but I've never downloaded a speed hack, nor would I use it in servers I played so much. When I played, I always made sure to play by the rules. I don't want to discredit anyone who has made the decision, but I feel there has been an error.

Is there any possible way to play in the servers anymore, or am I basically SoL?
That would be a shame, I really enjoyed these servers. Especially now since there's more people on than I've ever seen.

Thank you so much. You have made my week.

To be safe, is there any way the server could pick up any other extraneous  programs and identify it as a hack? I'm almost positive a don't have any viruses either.

What I'm asking is, is there any way to protect myself from events such as these in the future?

I don't believe there is anything which could be misread as a hack and if there was, then it would happen all of the time - not just once. It could have been that you were hacked and the hacker was the one who got you banned?

The only advice I can give is not to use anything 'dodgy'. If you go on to google and type in 'Free garrys mod hack' then you should expect to get a virus. Just use your commonsense and you will be fine. You could also take a look at https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1266-OAFV-8478 which should be able to provide some information to you about protecting your account.
