What do you think of Garrys Mod?
Do you ever regret buying it?
Would you recommend it to someone?
Anything else you want to say?

Played it since 2008, with a few month break inbetween, and I don't regret buying it, it's cheap and theres multiple fun gamemodes to choose from. I would recommend it to someone, infact I've gotten a lot of friends to buy it.

Well, it has a lot of kids on it nowadays which ruins it quite a bit, but its generally a good game. I have more than 3500 hours game play ;D

The only reason i regret buying it is because of my play time and im never going to forgive myself for discovering perp. T_T
Since i do not play GMod anymore I have donated my items to Master Mark's museum. Please feel free to check it out here.

Garry's Mod was one of the major incentives for me back in the day to actually join Steam and I'm so glad I did, I remember before getting the game I would watch YouTube videos endlessly just watching people creating incredible or complex constructions and I just loved the amount of creativity and thought that could go into it all. I loved Garry's Mod and still do to this day, although the community has only gotten worse sadly so I tend to jump on occasionally to just have a check and see what kind of servers are out there that aren't riddled with twelve year old children.

I only play on MoronYard and Sassilization, but I haven't been active lately cause Garry's Mod has been taken over by people who don't have any interest in following any kind of rules. Plus a lot of people have sethhack, and sethhack users get devnull(I think) and with devnull they can take down servers very easily unless the servers are well protected. So if you ban someone that has sethhack theres 60% chance your server is going to get attacked and your bandwidth is going to get raped.

I actually got half life 2 for birthday in 2004 and me and my brother won it together, then my brother used my steam account to play half life 2 mods and I saw him play Garry's Mod (version 6 at the time). But then later I asked him what mod it was he kept playing, where you could throw ragdolls around and stuff, and then I started playing it a lot. But I stopped playing it somewhere in 2006 and bought garrysmod 10 in 2007, but I didn't play that much, I then started getting more active in 2008 and I've played quite a lot since then. (Sorry if my typing is weird it's 5 am and I'm tired)

TL;DR: My brother played garry's mod in 2005, I fell in love with it, played garrysmod 6, stopped, started again playing garrysmod 7 and 9, bought garrysmod on steam in 2006 or 2007 and have been playing since with short breaks.

Btw I recovered my old steam account recently:

Oh boy, this is gonna be a long one:

Bought Garry's Mod in December 2006 and have been playing pretty much ever since. I used to play a lot of NoXious Net's Zombie Survival (ZS), which is one of the most addicting gamemodes out there. I was later approached by somebody on the servers asking me if I wanted to code a few things for his own Zombie Survival server.
At the time I didn't know it would be the start of my career as a Lua coder and I certainly didn't know I would be running something nearly as awesome as MoronYard.

After getting a few scripts running and modifying the public release of ZS for a several months, the server owner suddenly decided he was bored with the gamemode; all of my work was scrapped. I quit after that.

I soon started working on my own gamemodes, which sadly were never completed: a Minigame lobby based on the Wii game Boom Blox, a DotA clone for gMod (RTS and RPG features), and several other small projects.

Sometime in early 2011, I was again approached by that same individual mentioned above. He begged me to give me the source code to the modified version of ZS that I had worked on and wanted me to set it up for him. I initially denied but my love for the gamemode forced me to set it up after all. A few weeks later I ended up handing in updates to the code and I was once again working for that guy.

Nevertheless there are 2 positive aspects to that story: The shop that was used in the ZS modification would later turn into the nonDB shop (the one we use on our server). I also met Stebbzor, who at the time had also partnered up with that guy, which would ultimately lead to the creation of this awesome community.

After the dumbass server owner screwed up our forum database, lost the player data on the server and showed no appreciation for anybody's work, Stebbzor and I both decided to quit and start up our own community. (July 2011)

During that time, I had started converting the shop into something huge; a multi-purpose server add-on with tons of features. Player profiles, inventories, trading, crafting - you name it. In August 2011 Stebbzor showed me the gamemodes had been working on: Slope and Smash. We got our VPS on September 6th 2011 and the domain name was registered on September 11th.

I now have about 5000 hours of Garry's Mod playtime and I enjoyed every single minute of it. About 800 hours have been invested into the development nonDB alone.

Long story, sorry about that ;)

I have never regretted buying(or basically spending all my time on it) It is the single reason that I am not a xbox player anymore. Also, it opened my eyes too coding and game development.

Just a look at this thread, and I am amazed. PridIt started it off with one paragraph, and then Stebbz0r and Nonsense kept nice big long replies. Until it was ducks turn to reply.. 20 words maybe?

In 2009 or so, I used to be Administrator (soon to be owner) in a community known as FT-Gaming which I originally joined back in 2006 but back then it was on a different name. Over the 6 or so years I was there, I worked my way up the mod ladder several times until in 2010, I got promoted to Owner.

Shortly after I was promoted, the community closed and merged with another community called Steam Gaming, this was the first time we had done such a thing and my knowledge didn't expand outside of a game known as Command and Conquer Renegade. Steam Gaming was a lot larger than FT-Gaming was. They had Garrys Mod, Counter strike, TF2, L4D2 servers, and quite a few more. This was the first time I had been part of a Garrys Mod community. Slightly before the merge, a friend of mine convinced me to buy Garrys Mod, but I really didn't see the point in the game, all I had done with single player sandbox.

After joining the Sandbox server owned by Steam Gaming, I became a complete and utter ming,e but I also had admin power so I was referred to as "The Adminge". Overtime, the owner who was in charge of the sandbox got bored and him and several others would head to Mogz TTT server. I decided to join once and this was the first time I had played TTT, and the second time I had ever played a Garrys Mod server.

I took a strong liking to TTT and requested with one of the Steam Gaming owners (Owner of FT) to help me make andsetup a TTT server and with that we did. It was a pretty rubbish server though. No custom content and no members - good start?

In the end, Steam Gaming closed and formed Ninjah Gaming - the Owners of Ninjah Gaming are those of FT-Gaming, our TTT is strong and is slowly getting stronger.

TL;DR: Got Gmod, Got Admin the same day, became a minge, played TTT, made a TTT server, got bored, community closed, NG was born, Owner was given to Willdy, TTT was remade, TTT goes well, Happy ending.

I have played garry's mod since 2009 and i have over 500 play hours in it! and proud! I have had such good laughs and if i knew it was this fun when i bought it i would easily have payed 100$ for it! As for gameplay i mostly play with my friends on my own hosted vanilla server.(nowadays mostly MY) we do crazy stuff, invent things and games. just mess around. We never quite get enough of it! ;D    Garry's mod + friends = Fun = .... well. FUN!! PLAY IT! DO IT NOW!
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift... That's why they the call it present.

I've had Garry's mod for about a year now, and still i see new mods everyday. Sadly, garry's mod 13 will remove the good ol' Garry's mod.

But to OP No, never regret it. Cheap, fun, and really fun.
